Honour vs Patrioism

Ok, guys it's me again...agugu....

Last night i watched a quite outdated movie shown on the telebroadcast on TV3...The Last Samurai.... Im not a fans of Tom Cruise acctually...but I just found out his not a guy that gets his fame by appearance...well his cute and macho actually...but what caught my attention is the way he act....

The movie start with Tom Cruise as a drunk Captain.... that was not used by the country anymore. The movie era is just before The World War 2...where the Japanese came to Amerika to make a diplomatic relationship with the white guys for the strength of weopenary...Tom Cruise or Nathan Algren which is the name of the character was choosen to become the trainer of the Japanese army to learn how to use.... a gun.

The story goes on.... Nathan was force to involve in a war with the samurais....along with the newbie gun-armed army was not well prepare( they even can only shoot well under pressure). Nathan's army lost. He was captured by the samurais lead by Katsumoto, the guy that caught my attention most in the movie.

Ok end of the summary of the movie. Lets talk about samurais and Katsumoto. Samurai fight for their own honour not for their country. They suicide after losing to their enemies. Katsumoto actually was thaught to be a betrayer to their King, Emperor actually, Emperor Meiji. Katsumoto actually is betraying to get his student's attention. Yes, Katsumoto is Meiji's teacher for war in actual history. He wanted Meiji to reject the white man's offer for putting and advisor in their country.

Ok, blah blah blah, at the end Katsumoto died coz of war with gun armed armies. And the survivor of the samurai side is Nathan. Nathan brought back Katsumoto's katana and Meiji said somthing i like most in the movie:

"I hope for a mordern, independent and strong country. We wear Western clothings, we speak English, we use gun at wars. But we must not forget who we are, or where we come from. I anoouce the agreement is forfieted"

Ya great. Happy ending, and start of WW2.

Malaysia is celebrating Merdeka lately. Ok. Fellow Malaysias, I dun wanna criticise u but i had somthing to ask.Why u all had things such as Lagu Patriotik or Competition of Songs of Patriotism but u all din act anything to show u love ur country, ur people????

Ok the Messege here is.... The way to love ur country is not like shouting "Merdeka" like a mad man alongside the road or putting flags all on ur car or bikes. Learn from Katsumoto.... make meaningful actions...even scarifice ur life for ur country,King, family, or even jz a different race friend that was once ur enemy.
